Profile on Scott Smith, Zenith’s Health & Safety Director

Scott Smith has been with Zenith SAS Limited for the past 14 years and now holds the position of the company wide Health & Safety Director. He has a wealth of experience in the specialist access industry, he is a fully qualified Advanced Steeplejack and an appointed person for Crane Lift Planning. He is also registered as a consultant to the Occupational Safety & Health Consultants Register. He recently obtained Chartered Membership of IOSH.

Scott’s responsibilities within Zenith include Risk Management, all aspects of training, including the selection and training of apprentices and also Zenith’s Health & Safety Management System. Scott has recently overseen Zenith’s continued accreditation to ISO 9001 and 14001 as well as managing the Company’s site managers with their Vocational Qualification for Site Manager Roles.

When asked about the day to day challenges he faces, Scott commented “Working for the world’s leading oil, gas and power companies demands 100% focus to ensure companywide compliance with standards and procedures. Keeping up to date with legislation means that Zenith remains at the forefront of industry best practice when it comes to Health & Safety”. In his role as Health & Safety Director, Scott travels the globe ensuring that Zenith’s projects are managed safely whether onshore or offshore.

When it comes to goals, one of his next projects is for Zenith to achieve accreditation to ISO 18001 even though the company has accreditation to DNV SCC** already in place. “My main goal”, Scott concludes, “is to ensure that everyone with the Zenith Group of Companies continues to work safely.”
